Milliman, formerly Milliman & Robertson, is an international actuarial and consulting firm based in Seattle, Washington. The company was founded in 1947, by Wendell Milliman and Stuart A. Robertson and operates 59 offices internationally, with over 3,000 employees. Milliman is owned and managed by approximately 350 principals. The firm's primary business includes consulting practices in employee benefits, healthcare, investment, life insurance and financial services, and property and casualty insurance. The firm also provides data analysis and predictive analytics.

An anonymous former Milliman employee recounts his experience working for the company on the "Glassdoor" website on June 8, 2020:

"I received no recognition for my hard work. There is was a total lack of communication for management. The manager lacked basic knowledge of employee benefits issues. He also permitted another consultant to harass me for 5 years until I threatened to quit."

"The practice used to take care of their employees. Now the focus seems to be to move most work offshore and squeeze as much as possible out of the employees that remain. It is not uncommon to work late, on weekends, or holidays. Management is poor and lacks any real leadership qualities. "My experience as an administrative assistant at Milliman was average. It was a very easy job most days. My day usually consisted of editing word documents, collecting receipts for expenses, ordering lunches for meetings, scheduling travel and appointments for staff and some other miscellaneous tasks. However, there is zero room for growth for administrative staff. Little to no notice is given when you have to stay late to finish a project because the team waited until end of the day to complete it. Some of the staff is very arrogant, unfriendly and look down on admin staff. Some staff treated myself as merely a janitor... asking me to clean the kitchen, complaining if we were out of specific drinks/snacks and asking me to attend to the dirty bathrooms. "Learned helplessness" is the best way I could describe this behavior. Milliman was a very toxic place to be some days. Other admins are catty and shove undesirable tasks to the youngest admin. Don't question the status quo. The straw that broke the camel's back was when I was told that I needed to train the staff on the new database implementation. My salary was not commensurate to take on that task and I received little to no support from anyone besides our Accounting Manager (also not her job to do this implementation and training). I voiced my concerns over and over to corporate and our internal shareholders on the system errors, lack of staff engagement/participation and my ever-growing workload. I was not met with any sort of compromise. This seems to be a fantastic place to work if you are an Actuary or Consultant, butHealth insurance coverage and 401k was great, 3 weeks PTO accrued each year, lots of free lunchesSee above"
